WebService Platinum Hardware Configuration

Our Sun SPARCStation servers include all the following. As you have full root access to the system you are free to install or modify any aspect of the system’s configuration. Our systems include the following by default:

Switched 10Mbps ethernet connections
1000VA Uninterruptible power supply, plus gas-powered generator backup of all systems, routers and hubs
Free to add additional hardware (RAM, drives) of your own at cost price, or your hardware can be added to our maintenance plan.

Sun SPARCStations are high-performance workstations designed for the rigours of operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, unlike the desktop PCs many providers use for web sites.

With SCSI and ethernet built into the motherboard, and with a high-speed bus, the SPARC system architechture is ideal for web hosting. According to recent surveys, up to 68% of all web servers on the Internet are running Solaris on the Sun platform.

Software included and installed includes:

Sun Solaris 2.6 UNIX Operating System Apache v1.3.3 HTTPd configured with PHP3 and FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions support Sendmail v8, fully configured for virtual hosting and with anti-spam features Anonymous FTP daemon POP daemon Perl 5, GCC, Pine, Emacs, Java Development Kit, and much more

We configure and install all the above so you can start adding customers the day we hand the machine to you. As you have root access you can add any additional software, or reconfigure our setup to your liking.
