Frequently Asked Questions

Can I upgrade my account at any time?

Yes, you can.We'll even credit you the setup fee you paid for the account you are moving from, plus the unused portion of your service at that level. Unlike some providers, we'll create and leave links so that customers going to your old location will find your new site. Many of our customers started out on our Silver service and have upgraded to full Gold virtual server accounts.

Can I upgrade my disk space later?

Yes, if you need additional disk space you can e-mail us and we will upgrade you immediately. Disk space is charged in arrears after the first quarter, so you only pay for what you actually need.

Do you do dial-up access? (also known as What local calling areas do you have?)

No - in order to provide the highest quality service for our web hosting customers, we do not provide dial-up accounts. You will still need your existing ISP’s account to access our services.

Do you host adult sites?

We do not permit adult sites on our shared server (Gold, Silver) accounts. We consider “adult” to be anything more revealing than “Baywatch”. Platinum customers are permitted to host adult sites. We do not host any “unlimited” bandwidth adult sites which have been the downfall of other service providers.

What is your minimum contact length?

Three months - after that you can quit any time. We don’t ask for a year’s payment up front, or tie you in to a year-long contract, as many providers do.

How do I sign up?

How soon will my account be set up?

Normally within 24 hours of receiving your order. It will take somewhat longer, up to a week, for your domain name to be registered with InterNIC or changes to your nameserver entries to filter through the whole internet.

What are your rates in {insert currency here}?

Our rates are set in US$, wherever you are hosted, and whatever country you are located in. You can convert our US$ rates to your local currency at the current central rate of exchange.

Do I have to add VAT (sales tax) to your rates?

No - VAT is included on prices in Euros. In other words we make a 17% discount for all customers inside EC.

Can I pay in advance and get a discount?

You are welcome to pay more than 3 months at a time if you prefer, however we do not offer any discounts for this.

Do you support FrontPage extensions?

Yes, we fully support the latest Microsoft FrontPage 98 extensions. We can install these for no extra charge on your site. You should probably only have these installed if you intend to use FrontPage with your site - these files can break a few other scripts.

Do you register my domain for me?

You can do it yourself, for free (other than the charges that InterNIC or other registries make). See our order page.

How long does it take to get a domain name?

About a week for it to be working throughout the Internet. This time applies to InterNIC domains, it may be longer for other registries.

Who do I pay for my domain name?

InterNIC or the appropriate registration authority will bill you directly for your domain name.

Do I own the domain name?

Yes, and if you want to change providers you can take your domain name with you and your customers will not even know you have moved (apart from the fact your site will probably be slower with another provider... :-)

Does it cost anything to move a name from a different provider?

No, we do not charge anything, and neither does InterNIC. Other registration authorities may charge.

Can I have an address of http://mycom.com/ as well as http://www.mycom.com/?

You get both, by default.

Do you register my site with search engines?

You can do it yourself, for free - see submit-it.com.
